Dear Neighbors,

Happy Black History Month! During the month of February, we pause as a nation to remember the greatness of our ancestors. We acknowledge the sacrifice of extraordinary people who strengthened America and changed the course of history. We pay tribute to the Heroes and SHeroes of the past, present and of today, who have made instrumental contributions to our society.

While this is a time of celebration, it is also an opportunity to reflect on how we can move our country forward in a more just and equitable way. Even though we have a long way to go to achieve equity, the fortitude of our ancestors has provided us with the solid foundation on which we stand today. It is our duty to continue with great optimism to fulfill the promise of our people and our country.

The City of LA will be commemorating the month with a series of events. See our community calendar tab for more details and upcoming events.

In hope and solidarity,
