Creating Career Pathways for Youth

Youth

Hello Neighbors,

Earlier this week, I introduced a motion that would lead to the creation of a City of Los Angeles Career Pathways Fellowship Program benefitting our most disadvantaged youth.

The proposed plan would connect young women, transgender youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and youth of color to long-term City employment. Designed to empower young Angelenos and recent college graduates, this initiative will help address the challenges and barriers that systematically prevent the progress of marginalized youth.

I’m hopeful that such a program would succeed in helping to fill vacant positions throughout City departments while improving the fellows’ economic conditions. I’m excited for the potential to recruit, educate and train the next generation of leaders and would like to see a Career Pathways program in place by 2023. Sincerely,
