The City Council unanimously approved a Housing and Homelessness Committee report which directs the CAO to report to Council on a quarterly basis with performance and outcome data related to the implementation of the citywide housing strategy for people experiencing RV homelessness, including the number and location of RVs being used as dwellings, the number of persons experiencing RV homelessness, potential California Vehicle Code and Los Angeles Municipal Code violations, outreach contacts, service referrals, housing or other placements, refusals and more. The report also requests LAHSA to report back to Council with a plan to establish 24-hour safe parking locations for RVs that will include on-site case management and vehicle maintenance services, such as pumping septic tanks, hygiene services, and with recommendations to lower barriers of entry for people experiencing homelessness. Council District 9 currently has two safe parking sites for families whose only source of shelter is their vehicle. To read the report, click here
