Team Price has been hard at work reimagining underutilized alleyways and transforming them into green, clean and welcoming open spaces for the community to enjoy. After much-anticipation, Councilmember Price was elated to join Trust for Public Land and LA Sanitation & Environment (LASAN) on March 18 for the official opening of two Green Alley projects in the historic Central Avenue Jazz corridor.

“I’m proud to have taken a leadership role in the creation of these revitalization efforts that transformed 11 blighted alleyways into vibrant, community assets,” said Councilmember Price. “The Central-Jefferson and Quincy Jones Green Alley networks will help to capture polluted stormwater and serve as safe walking and biking paths for residents–connecting them to schools, workplaces, local businesses, and parks, giving local neighbors more access to the community at-large.”

The nearly one mile of newly renovated alleyways include installation of lights, native and drought-tolerant plants to help beautify neighborhoods, light-colored pavement which reduces rising urban heat, and public art displays.
