Councilmember Price and his Council colleagues recognized retired American track and field athlete, Allyson Michelle Felix, during a special ceremony in Council Chambers on Sept. 29. Allyson was welcomed by the booming sounds of the USC marching band and students from Thomas Jefferson High School's track & field team. She was lauded for her exceptional achievements as an athlete, entrepreneur, and advocate for women.
Allyson is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding athletes of all time. Over her remarkable 20-year career, she has amassed an impressive collection of eleven Olympic medals, seven of which are gold.
In honor of her trailblazing legacy, the University of Southern California's track and field venue has been permanently renamed as Allyson Felix Field.
