The LA City Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the Los Angeles Municipal Code by removing the designation of permanent locations where Sidewalk Vending had been previously prohibited.

Upon adoption, vendors will be permitted to operate in seven major locations. This includes: LA Live/Crypto.com Arena and Exposition Park in Council District 9, as well the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood Bowl, Dodger Stadium, Universal Studios/ CityWalk, and El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument. These zones were initially established in 2018, when the Council decriminalized street vending citywide.

Removing the restriction will bring the City into compliance with State Law SB 946, which decriminalized street vending statewide. There are some exceptions, particularly in relation to health and safety concerns, such as ADA compliance around schools, farmers markets, and filming locations.
