LA Mayor Unveils New City Budget

Posted on 04/25/2023

Dear Neighbor,

On April 18, Mayor Karen Bass released her first proposed City budget, and I am pleased the budget provides an additional $250 million for housing and supportive services to our unhoused neighbors through her Inside Safe program. That would bring the City's total commitment to ending homelessness to an unprecedented $1.3 billion. Click here to read the budget summary.

Strengthening public safety, the budget also creates the Office of Community Safety, focused on unarmed response and connecting people to jobs and services. I strongly support both initiatives and this community-focused budget.

As vice chair of the Budget, Finance and Innovation Committee, I and my team will be closely reviewing the budget over the upcoming weeks, beginning April 25 in Council Chambers.

As your Councilmember, I will focus on ensuring departments are adequately funded and can deliver on the quality of life issues that most impact our community. Please send me your thoughts, recommendations and suggestions on the latest budget at Councilmember.Price@lacity.org.

With gratitude and hope,
