The LA City Council approved a motion instructing the City of Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD), the City Administrative Officer and City Attorney, to report back within 30 days on utilizing relocation consultants to assist families and residents still displaced by the 27th Street explosion from June 30, 2021, which caused extensive damage to surrounding properties and displaced dozens of residents. Since a number of affected residents continue to live in temporary housing paid by the City, there is an urgent need to address barriers keeping them from relocating to permanent housing.
